This one square mile town needs no introduction. The birthplace of Ol’ Blue Eyes, Frank Sinatra, has grown up to be seen by its residents, visitors, and neighbors alike as one of the most desirable places to live on the Gold Coast. Its close proximity to New York City immediately makes Hoboken attractive, but that’s only the beginning.
With a high number of shops, restaurants, and bars on Washington Street, Hoboken is a draw even for New Yorkers, as well as the surrounding townships. And what’s best is that everything is in walking distance, giving the town a very close-knit, intimate feel. Now a word to those looking for a slow paced, private town – Hoboken is not at all remote. In fact, 38,577 people live in the one square mile of space, and the nightlife is very active, enough to draw in crowds from New York City on the weekends.
Yet with strong public and private school options, Hoboken is convenient for families and individuals with an active lifestyle. Take the PATH train into New York City, drive to one of the many area malls, or visit the neighboring Gold Coast communities via the Light Rail. But the charm of Hoboken may make you think twice about leaving.

Hoboken Recreation
The historic significance of Hoboken is apparent in the architecture of the area, from its classic brownstone homes to the public and private structures that were built here. We would recommend walking around on your own, as the town is pedestrian friendly, or take it a step further and participate in a walking tour. Administered by the Hoboken Historical Museum, the tour happens once a year and gets you inside some of the most amazing historically or architecturally significant buildings still standing that are otherwise closed to the public.
On a more daily basis, there are many parks to lounge about in – Church Square Park, Columbus Park, Elysian Park, Stevens Park, Gateway Park, Jackson Street Park, Legion Park, and Madison Park. Another main outdoor feature of Hoboken is the Hudson River Waterfront Walkway – a promenade that will eventually stretch from Bayonne all the way to the George Washington Bridge. The view of Lower Manhattan from the walkway is a sight to behold.
For those seeking an active nightlife, look no further than Hoboken, which at one point was home to over 200 bars – that number has diminished to about 100, but considering how small the city is, and how the majority of shops, bars, and restaurants are on Washington Street, that’s still plenty to choose from.
Whatever your lifestyle, you can find your rhythm here in Hoboken.
